Things to Do This Weekend (Weekend of September 9th)

Hayride
Take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend by attending an outdoor festival, there are so many to choose from! Enjoy carnival rides, live music, magic, apple picking, animals, delicious food and more. Sunday is Grandparent's Day, the perfect opportunity to spend some quality family time together.

Carnivals & Festivals

Yorktown Grange Fair
Summary: Rides, livestock shows, live music, food, audience participation contests including pie and watermelon eating, jugglers, magicians, antique tractor parade and more.
Schedule: September 8th - 11th. Thursday 5 - 10 pm, Friday 4 - 11 pm, Saturday 10 am - 11 pm, Sunday 10 am - 7 pm.
Location: 99 Moseman Rd, Yorktown Heights, NY

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Festival
Summary: Annual festival featuring carnival rides and games as well as authentic Greek food, pastries, live music, DJ music and dancing. In addition there will be a flea market and a marketplace with jewelry, clothing, giftware, toys and more. 
Schedule: September 8th - 11th. Thursday 6 - 11 pm, Friday 6 pm - 12 am, Saturday 2 pm - 12 am, Sunday 1 - 9 pm.
Location: 10 Mill Rd, New Rochelle, NY 

​Yonkers Riverfest
Summary: Now in its 24th year, Riverfest has grown to be the largest free festival in Westchester County. Located at the Waterfront in Downtown Yonkers, over 25,000 visitors will come to see  performers, exhibitions and tours, cuisines and more. There will be a separate children's area with live music, bouncy castles, slides, games, a puppet theatre and an animal show.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 12 - 7 pm.
Location: Yonkers Waterfront

​​Harrison Public Library's Play2Learn Festival
​
Summary: Free family festival with eight different play zones with hands-on activities, live concerts, food truck, raffles and more. Musical performers include: Armelle for Kids, Chloe's Kids, Groove Band plays Music for Aardvarks, Songs for Seeds and Turtle Dance Music.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 11 - 3 pm.
Location: Riis Park, 2 Bruce Avenue, Harrison, NY.

Barton Orchards Harvest Festival
Summary: Fall festival with live music, hayrides, corn maze, haunted house, fun park, petting zoo, apple picking and fireworks.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 9 am - 10 pm.
Location: Barton Orchards, 63 Apple Tree Lane, Poughquag, NY

​​Festival Weekends at Harvest Moon Orchard 
​
Summary: Weekly fall festival with hayrides, apple and pumpkin picking, live music, face painting, pony rides, bouncy castles, BBQ and more.
Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, September 10th - October 30th 10 am - 5 pm.
Location: Harvest Moon Orchard, 130 Hardscrabble Rd, North Salem, NY 

Take Me To The River Music & Arts Festival
Summary: Homegrown music festival celebrating eclectic mix of local, regional and national acts as well as out of the box activities for for kids of all ages.
​Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 12 pm - 9 pm
Location: Draper Park, 80 Washington Avenue, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY

The New York Renaissance Fair
Summary: Enter the world of 16th Century England and enjoy themed games, rides, arts, crafts, food, music and dance. Dress in costume and be part of the experience! This weekend's theme is Pirates.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th - Sunday, September 11th 10 am - 7 pm (final weekend is October 1st).
Location: 600 Rt. 17A, Tuxedo Park, NY

Hastings Flea
Summary: A fun family day filled with treats, gifts, entertainment, food and surprises. Includes bounce house, live music for children, face painting and a heartfelt tribute to 9/11 with songs of healing at 2pm.
Schedule: Sunday, September 11th 10 am - 4 pm
Location: 131 Southside Avenue, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Go Free at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester
Summary: In honor of Grandparent's Day, grandparents go free at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester with the purchase of a kid’s ticket.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th - Sunday, September 11th 10 am - 9 pm.
Location: LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester, Ridge Hill, 39 Fitzgerald Street, Yonkers, NY

Grandparents Day at Muscoot Farm
Summary: Enjoy an afternoon of crafts and treats.
Schedule: Sunday, September 11th  1 - 3 pm.
Location: Muscoot Farm, 51 NY-100, Katonah, NY

Grandparents Day Special Animal Presentation at Greenburgh Nature Center
Summary: Special hands-on experience and show and tell with some of the Nature Center animals. 
Schedule: Sunday, September 11th  2 - 3 pm.

Penny Lick's 1st Birthday with Mario the Magician
Summary: Penny Lick Ice Cream is celebrating it's first birthday with a free magic show from famed performer Mario the Magician.  Bring the little ones! Mario is a real treat!
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 11 am - 12 pm
Location: VFW Plaza, 580 Warburton Ave, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY (just a few doors down from Penny Lick)

Clay Art Center Open House & Studio Tour
Summary: Free hands-on activities for the whole family. Tour the studios, classrooms and gallery.
Schedule: Saturday, September 10th 1:30 pm - 5 pm

Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway​
Summary: During Bicycle Sundays, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters and strollers.
Schedule: Sunday, September 11th  10 am - 2 pm.
Location: Bronx River Parkway from Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers.

Reptile Expo
Summary: See thousands of live pet reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids on display and for sale at discounted prices.
Schedule: Sunday, September 11th  10 am - 4 pm.
Location: Westchester County Center, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY

Yonkers Riverfest is just the best fun, every year. The kids have a ball and look forward to it for months!
